How to alphabetize data in Google Sheets by sorting a range of cells
Google Sheets allows you to sort a range of cells, so that you can easily arrange your data of specific columns or ranges. By using these options, you can quickly sort a single column, multiple columns, or even your entire sheet, making it easier to find and analyze your data.
Select the data you want to alphabetize
The first step is so select the data you want to alphabetize, by clicking on one cell and then drag your mouse. In our example, we chose column A.

Choose the alphabetization method
Go to the “Data” menu at the top, hover the mouse on “Sort range” and then choose between sorting by A to Z in order to alphabetize or sorting by Z to A to order the data in the reverse order of the alphabet.

Your data is now alphabetized
Well done! Your data should now be alphabetized.

How to alphabetize data in Google Sheets by using the filter feature
Using the filter feature to sort is another way to alphabetize your data in Google Sheets, but this method only allows you to filter entire columns, rather than a range of cells like the previous method.
Create a filter
In the in-cell menu, click on “Create a filter.”

Choose the alphabetization method
An upside-down triangle should have appeared on the column. Now, you need to click on it to open the filter menu. In that menu, you can choose between sorting by A to Z in order to alphabetize or sorting by Z to A to order the data in the reverse order of the alphabet.

Your data is now alphabetized
Congratulations! Your data should now be alphabetized and more organized than before.
