Airtable, despite its vast array of features and its versatility in managing databases, doesn't have a built-in dark mode. For those who prefer a darker interface, especially when working at night or in low-light conditions, this can be a drawback. However, there is a workaround for this. With the help of Google Chrome extensions, it's possible to enable dark mode for Airtable. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to do that:
Step 1: Load Airtable in Google Chrome
Start by loading your Airtable in your Google Chrome app. Ensure that you have the latest version of Google Chrome installed. If not, update your browser.

Step 2: Visit the Chrome Web Store
Navigate to the Chrome Web Store or locate and click on the three dots icon on the top right corner of the Google Chrome window. Then click on the option “Extensions” and then on “Visit Chrome Web Store.”

Step 3: Select an appropriate extension
In the search bar, type “dark mode” or a related query. You'll see several extensions that can enable dark mode for various websites, including Airtable. There are many dark mode extensions available, but for this guide, we'll use "Dark Reader" as an example. It's a popular choice known for its flexibility and support for a wide range of websites.
Step 3.1: Search an extension
Find the search bar on the top left corner, and click on it.

As you type, you'll see an array of extensions popping up on the right side of the screen.

Step 3.2: Select and install the extension
Find the extension you want to use and click on it. The extension’s dedicated page will open, offering you a blue “Add to Chrome” button. Click on it.

A dialog window will pop-up for you to confirm that you wish to use this extension. Click on the button “Add extension” to complete the installation process.

The extension is now installed on your Google Chrome. A confirmation message might appear and you may close it by clicking on the X.

Step 4: Set up the extension
If you want to enable the dark mode only for Airtable, not for other websites, many extensions, including Dark Reader, allow you to set preferences on a per-site basis. To do so, click on the extension icon while on Airtable and select the option to enable dark mode only for the current site.

You can use the icon highlighted in yellow to pin the app to the Google Chrome bar.
After clicking on the extension, a small window will appear.

Here you can adjust settings such as the brightness or contrast, the site list, toggling the dark mode for all or specific websites, or setting automations based on time or location.
If you want to have only Airtable in dark mode, navigate to Airtable, open the extension and click on “Configure website toggling” to disable it for all websites by default, and then click on the button “airtable.com” on the top of the extension window.

Now that you have enabled the dark mode for Airtable, keep in mind that the dark mode extension essentially inverts the colors on the website, so occasionally, some graphics or logos may not look as intended. Adjust the extension’s settings if necessary.
